Christina Boonzaayer, RCC
Christina graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2014 with a BA in Psychology. While at Kwantlen, she played for the Women’s Soccer Team for five years; attending Provincial championships four times and National championships twice. She still continues to play soccer to this day, as well as many other sports recreationally. As a result of her time as an elite athlete, she has attained a good understanding of the different pressures and mental health concerns that accompany being an athlete.
Christina continued her education and completed a Masters of Counselling at City University of Seattle in 2019. She has received additional training in Trauma Sensitive treatments such as Mindfulness and Somatic Therapy. Christina has also completed addictions training through UBC and has experience in working with marginalized communities that struggle with substance misuse, homelessness, and various mental health concerns.
Christina takes an integrative approach in her Counselling practice in order to provide a client-centred and culturally inclusive environment for clients to thrive. She incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and areas of Psychoanalysis to ensure she meets the needs of each unique client.
